In November 2014 I orchestrated songs from John's two solo albums, "Queen of Denmark" and "Pale Green Ghosts", for a UK tour with the Royal Northern Sinfonia. The tour sold out and received phenomenal reviews.

Gemma Ray & the Deutsches Filmorchester Babelsberg
Live broadcast for Radio Eins (Berlin) featuring full orchestra for songs from the albums "Lights Out Zoltar!" and "Island Fire". Several live gigs with the orchestra followed on from this performance, and we worked with the orchestra again to record arrangements for Gemma's forthcoming album.

CLICK HERE TO LISTEN TO THIS SESSION & OTHER RECORDINGS...Fiona Brice is a British composer, musical director and performer (violin, piano, BVs). She writes and releases her own music as well as collaborating with internationally renowned artists to provide orchestrations for studio albums, live concerts and TV and radio performances. Her work has been commissioned by the BBC Philharmonic (BBC Proms/BBC Radio 4 Wireless Nights), Royal Northern Sinfonia (various concert performances and tours), London Mozart Players (“On the Move” concert series), Metropole Orchestra, Heritage Orchestra (BBC Proms), Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Zurich Chamber Orchestra, with several ‘live in concert’ album releases eg. “John Grant and the BBC Philharmonic”, “Lanterns on the Lake & Royal Northern Sinfonia”, “Placebo MTV Unplugged”.
Solo releases include “Scissors Paper Stone” (Thesis Drive Project, USA 2019 featured by Mary Anne Hobbs on BBC6 Music), “String Quartet No.1” (2018 Bigo & Twigetti Records, UK) which aired on BBC Radio 3 Late Junction, and albums “Postcards From” and “Postcards Reframed” (Bella Union 2016). A 3-movement piece “Relationships for String Ensemble” received its world premiere in 2017 by the London Mozart Players. Fiona writes music for film and TV, notably incidental music for BBC1’s two-part documentary “Our Dementia Choir with Vicky McClure” (2019).
As a session violinist she performs, records and tours with many of the above artists and also Ariana Grande, Liam Gallagher, Elbow, Kanye West, Jay-Z and Beyonce, Miley Cyrus & Mark Ronson, Phoebe Bridgers. She toured worldwide with British alternative rock group Placebo for ten years and is Musical Director for Roy Harper.
Fiona is an industry mentor for the ‘Musicians Union x she.grows’ scheme, and has taught workshops in composition, arrangement and performance at Snape Maltings (Aldeburgh Young Musicians), Sage Gateshead (“Summer Studio” sessions) and Northamptonshire Music and Performing Arts Trust (NMPAT), and she is a registered orchestral contractor (Musicians Union) so is able to provide other carefully selected session musicians for recordings and tours on request.
